Last Night At The Proms July 2020

Outreach Opera thoroughly enjoyed their first open-air concert back, after six months of silence due to Covid 19 restrictions.

Hoghton Tower welcomed them back for a concert of opera highlights, songs from the musicals and some of the usual Last Night At The Proms anthems. Joined by conductor Helen Harrison on piano and Tenor John Wood, Outreach Opera sang to a sold out audience, who enjoyed picnics on the lawn of the beautiful Wilderness Garden.

Brindle St James’ Church July 2018

Thank you to St James’ Church in Brindle for marvellously hosting Outreach Opera’s summer 2018 concert. It was wonderful to see such a turn out, in spite of the thunder and rain, which created a dramatic backdrop for the evening.

Local choir, Hoghton In Harmony joined Outreach for the concert, filling the church with their glorious sounds.

The concert marked the end of Outreach Opera’s 2017/18 season and what a fantastic year it has been.

Love, Lies and Tonic 2019

Outreach Opera returned to Hoghton Tower this summer for another journey through life, love, happiness and tragedy.

A great introduction to opera, Love, Lies and Tonic presents drama in bite sized chunks. Set amidst the hustle and bustle of small village life, Love, Lies and Tonic joins the locals down at the pub, offering a chance to witness clandestine conversations in dark corners, revealing the intricacy of community life.

Audience members enjoyed picnics on the lawn, surrounded by the rolling hills of Lancashire, during the extended interval.

Outreach Opera enjoys bringing opera to unusual venues and so they used Hoghton Tower’s Great Barn for this particular production. As the home of  Hoghton Tower’s Farmer’s Market on a Sunday, the Great Barn is less accustomed to musical events, but it’s beautifully rustic nature provided the perfect setting for Love, Lies and Tonic.

Samlesbury Hall

Outreach Opera had the pleasure of singing for a fabulous audience at Samlesbury Hall, set in the beautiful Lancashire countryside.

Tales of Love 2 July 2017

Tales Of Love 2

From the first Tales of Love at Reveal Festival in Bolton came Tales of Love 2 which was performed in Hoghton Tower’s wonderful barn setting, during the summer of 2017.

Designed as the perfect introduction to opera, Tales of Love presents bite-sized opera as you have never seen it before. Made up of six standalone scenes, with content taken from many operas including La Boheme, The Marriage of Figaro and La Traviata, the idea for this project was to quickly capture the interest of it’s viewers. In a society where the pace is increasingly fast moving these bite-sized segments offer maximum impact in short, dramatic bursts. Always keen to appeal to those fresh to opera, the scenes are performed in both English and original language and aim to take you on a journey of love, marriage, heartache, death and celebration. This is soap opera at it’s most dramatic, designed to be enjoyed in a relaxed environment for all the family.

Rehearsals

Community Chorus

Outreach Opera enjoyed introducing a community chorus to The Drinking Song from Verdi’s La Traviata. Over three weeks, members of Outreach Opera had the pleasure of working alongside keen local singers, who enjoyed getting to grips with all aspects of performance, from the tongue twisting Italian words to the lively tempo of the piece.

This community chorus then performed alongside the Tales of Love cast for the show’s finale at Hoghton Tower, July 2017.
