Hansel & Gretel July 2016

Hansel and Gretel
An opera by 19th century German composer Engelbert Humperdinck (not that one!), who described it as a Märchenoper (a fairytale opera). The libretto was written by Humperdinck’s sister, Adelheid Wette, based on the Grimm brothers’ fairy tale “Hansel and Gretel”. Outreach Opera had the pleasure of performing an outdoor production of Hansel and Gretel in the
Wilderness Garden at Hoghton Tower, a heritage property set in the heart of the North West countryside, during the summer of 2016.

For this project, Outreach Opera worked alongside Kearsley West Primary School and Walton-Le-Dale Arts College, with students performing as Angels and Gingerbread Children during the production.
Offering an introduction to Opera, Outreach Opera took the witches cottage to the students in a June half term workshop. Our budding young cast members enjoyed a day of games, singing, drama and art, all of which was the building blocks for the final performance.

On Saturday the 2nd of July Outreach Opera hosted an Arts and Crafts Day at The Tea Cosy in St Andrews Square, Bolton. Friends, family and members of the youth cast joined them to help make props and set for the production of Hansel and Gretel.

Tales of Love Reveal Festival March 2017

Tales Of Love

Tales of Love was first performed as part of Bolton Octagon’s Reveal Festival in March 2017, which saw six pop-up performances of opera scenes, at specific locations around Bolton Town Centre, including The Olympus Chip Shop and Bolton Market Hall. Audiences were quite often surprised with offerings of drama, passion, love and death, at unexpected instances.
